Spanish Club at DeSmet Jesuit High School promotes the language and cultures of the Spanish-speaking world through a broad array of fun and educational co-curricular activities and service opportunities which allow faculty and students to interact, practice spoken Spanish, and learn about the diversity of Hispanic cultures.
Moderator: Sra. Carmen Bowman
On Sept. 10, the Spanish Club hosted its first cooking lesson of the year. Members learned to prepare patatas bravas, a Spanish dish that is often served as a tapa in bars across Spain. This Spanish classic is topped with a spicy tomato sauce or aioli, both of which were served at the cooking lesson on Thursday. Spanish Club’s cooking lessons give club members the ability to experience food from Hispanic cultures across the world, broadening their pallets and overall becoming more culturally enriched.
