Kinealy '23 Wins Bowling Scholarship

Congratulations to Ben Kinealy ’23, who is the recipient of the Don Rohman Outstanding Bowling Scholarship, presented by the Missouri State USBC (United States Bowling Congress). In addition to skill as a bowler, the scholarship committee considers a student’s academic record, extracurricular activities, community service, and letters of recommendation when making awards.

Ben competes as a member of De Smet Jesuit’s team in the Mid-America High School League. His current stats include high average, 205; high game, 278; and high series, 683. He is a two-time former state champion in the Pepsi Scholarship Tournament and has finished first in the JBC Gateway Tournament two times.

At De Smet Jesuit, Ben is a member of the De Smet Sports Network (DSN) livestream crew that broadcasts sporting events. He is also a member of the Spanish Club, the Spanish Honor Society and, when pandemic restrictions are not in place, participates in Chess Club and the Ping Pong Club.

“I love bowling because I was born into a bowling family and have been bowling since a young age,” Ben said. “I love the sport because I can enjoy the competition while also making new friends along the way. I hope that De Smet can do well at the state tournament this year.”
