Fr. Chris Schroeder, S.J. '00, Chaplain, Service Projects Coordinator
Fr. Schroeder graduated from De Smet Jesuit in 2000 and returns to serve as our Chaplain and coordinator of the service projects team. He entered the novitiate in 2002 while at SLU. He continued at SLU and at Santa Clara University, receiving master's degrees in philosophy and theology, and he was ordained in 2014. Fr. Schroeder taught at Arrupe Jesuit High School in Denver and was a staff writer for TheJesuitPost.org, a media outlet of Jesuits in formation. Most recently he served as retreat/spiritual director at Montserrat Jesuit Retreat House in Lake Dallas, Texas.

Peter Musso, Ed.D. '89, Assistant Principal for Curriculum and Instruction
Dr. Musso returns to De Smet Jesuit in the role of Assistant Principal for Curriculum and Instruction. A 1989 graduate of De Smet Jesuit, Dr. Musso returned after graduate school to teach English in 1995. While here, he moderated student government, coached cross country, assisted in theatre, and moderated student activities. Dr. Musso then went to work at JSEA (now JSN) in Washington, DC, where he was an associate vice president. In 2006, he served as Assistant Principal for Staff Development for De Smet Jesuit before he worked in his most recent role as Director of School Support and Director of the Alumni Service Corps for the UCS Jesuits.He holds bachelor's and master's degrees in English from the University of Dayton and earned his doctorate in Educational Leadership from Maryville University in 2012. In addition to his administrative responsibilities, Dr. Musso will have a freshman homeroom and teach a section of sophomore English.

Michael Estwanick, Director of Facilities Services
Mr. Estwanick comes to us from CareSTL Health, with more than 25 years of property and facilities management experience, including experience at Washington University and the YMCA. He is certified in HVAC and has achieved professional certifications in facility management and energy and environmental building design and construction. Mr. Estwanick will be responsible for planning, budgeting, and directing maintenance, housekeeping, grounds, safety, and building access for activities and staff.

Maria Lang, Assistant Director of Admissions
Mrs. Lang joins De Smet Jesuit in the newly established position of Assistant Director of Admissions. Mrs. Lang substitute taught Spanish at De Smet Jesuit last semester and has also held regular teaching appointments at Cor Jesu Academy and St. Peter in Kirkwood. She earned bachelor's degrees in education and Spanish language and literature and has admissions experience from the University of Missouri-Columbia. Mrs. Lang will primarily be responsible for outreach planning and implementation, strategic data management, and development of recruitment communications.

John Reyes '94, Biology Teacher
Mr. Reyes will continue his sixth year coaching our sophomore soccer team as he joins the faculty part-time to teach biology. A graduate of De Smet Jesuit in 1994, Mr. Reyes earned his bachelor's degree in science from Western Illinois University. He previously worked in special education in the St. Charles school district and has soccer coaching experience with Visitation Academy and Ursuline Academy.

Ethan Valencia, Alumni Service Corps Theology Teacher
Mr. Valencia serves as our ASC this year in the theology department. He recently graduated from St. Louis University with a bachelor's degree in philosophy.
