De Smet Jesuit High School Scholarship Program
De Smet Jesuit High School Scholarship Fund allows the School to fulfill its mission of educating qualified young men regardless of their families’ economic circumstances. We work with families objectively to meet their need. Combined with our young men’s school achievements – and their academic outcomes are equally unique – this aspect of De Smet Jesuit and its continuing culture is what your scholarship fund would support.
You are invited to participate in a special program supporting this fund for the benefit of students today and tomorrow.
Tuition for the 2018-19 school year is $16,700 and the cost to educate a student is $21,378. Currently 25% of students receive direct financial aid and the average award is $8,000. The school will distribute $1.9 million in direct aid this year.
The De Smet Jesuit named Scholarship Program – that is, endowed scholarships totaling $20,000 or more - provides an opportunity to assist future generations of students. At the same time, it enables donors to recognize significant individuals, such as alumni, faculty, or family, who have emulated the ideal of “men for and with others” throughout their lives.
To partially endow a scholarship, the minimum contribution is approximately the cost to educate a young man or $20,000. This would yield a scholarship of $1,500 per year (see table below). Once the scholarship is established, funds may be added to it by the donor or additional donors to increase tuition relief.
