Global Learning, Ignatian Values
The Ignatian Global Scholars program at De Smet Jesuit empowers students to become globally competent leaders rooted in Jesuit values. Through academic exploration, service learning, and cultural immersion, students engage with the world beyond the classroom—developing a deeper understanding of global issues and their role in creating a more just and compassionate world.
Overview
Students may apply in their sophomore or junior year to begin a multi-year journey of academic and personal growth.
To earn the certificate, students complete 6 out of 8 program components, selecting at least one from each of the five Ignatian Pedagogical Paradigm (IPP) categories: Context, Experience, Reflection, Action, and Evaluation.
An Ignatian Global Scholar is a student who commits to deepening their awareness of global issues, practicing intercultural understanding, and taking action through service and reflection. Scholars seek to live the Jesuit mission of reconciliation, justice, and solidarity across borders and cultures.
