The De Smet Jesuit Bowling team bowls in the West County Division against other local private and public schools. Bowling is a no-cut sport that employs a handicap system to allow new bowlers to compete alongside more experienced bowlers. Joining the De Smet Jesuit Bowling Team is a great way to have fun, improve your game, and earn a varsity letter. The bowling season runs from October through March. The matches are against St. Louis area public and private schools and are contested at various bowling centers throughout St. Louis County.
With great championship teams come championship-caliber players (and coaches).
In the 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 seasons, De Smet set several high school records. In 2019-2020 they had a team high game of 1153 (avg. 230 per bowler) and in 2020-2021 they bowled a record best 2177 two-game set (avg. 217 per bowler). In the 2024-2025 season the Spartans finished 2nd in the conference and a top 10 finish at state.

Tryout & Schedule Information
De Smet is a no cut (handicap) sport for 8th graders to Seniors and no experience is needed. Our team practices are held on Thursdays from 3:30-5:00 at Olivette Lanes. Practice will start September 11. All matches are generally on Sundays with start times at 10:00, 11:00 or 12:00. We bowl between 4-5 bowling establishments in West County for most matches.
