De Smet Jesuit is proud to partner with the Sports Medicine program at Mercy to maintain the health of our student athletes.  All Athletic Trainers (ATs) are supplied by Mercy.

Athletic trainers (ATs) are highly qualified, multi-skilled health care professionals who work in collaboration with physicians. As members of the health care team, ATs provide a wide range of services, including primary care, injury and illness prevention, wellness promotion and education, emergency care, examination and clinical diagnosis, therapeutic intervention, injury rehabilitation, management of medical conditions, and concussion care.

Athletic trainers focus on improving functional outcomes and specialize in educating patients to prevent injury and re-injury. Through their expertise, ATs help reduce the risk of injury and shorten rehabilitation time, enabling patients to return to their sport or activity more quickly and safely.
