Coach Canavan started his coaching career as an assistant coach at St. Louis Community College - Flo Valley from 2003 - 2007 where he coached hitters, infielders, and outfielders. During his time here, he had 13 players named All-Region and they were nationally ranked in 2004 & 2005. He then moved to Lindenwood University as an assistant from 2008 - 2010 where they won 3 consecutive conference championships and se the school record for wins in a season at 45 in 2009. He coached 9 players to All-Conference honors.
From Lindenwood, he became the Camp & Showcase Coordinator/Director for the St. Louis Pirates Baseball Club from 2013 - 2015 where helped over 60 players reach the college level. In 2016 he became the head coach at MICDS where he led the program to it's first State Championship in school history and was named the 2016 MSHSBCA Class 4 Coach of they Year. At MICDS, he had an overall record of 61-38 and helped 14 players reach to the next level. In 2021, he returned to Lindenwood University as an assistant coach working with catchers and hitters. In 2021, Lindenwood University were Conference Champions and reached the #1 national ranking for the 1st time in school history.
In 2022, Coach Canavan became the head coach of our Spartans.
