The De Smet Difference

De Smet Jesuit was founded in 1967 as a private, Catholic, all-boys college preparatory school under the direction of the Society of Jesus. Guided by the teachings of St. Ignatius of Loyola, De Smet is committed to forming young men who are intellectually competent, open to growth, religious, loving, and committed to justice. Rooted in the Jesuit tradition, our mission is to help students discover and develop their God-given talents while becoming men for others.

OUR MISSION: De Smet Jesuit inspires and prepares men for others to transform the world, Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam.

Profile of the Grad

As a Jesuit school and member of the Jesuit Schools Network we strive to graduate students who live as men for others, guided by the Profile of the Graduate at Graduation. Used nationwide by Jesuit schools, this framework outlines five core characteristics—at De Smet Jesuit, we’ve added a sixth, Developing as a Leader, to reflect our unique student experience.
