El Camino Begins February 28th
Freshman Parents: El Camino begins Thursday, February 28th at 6:00pm. All freshmen are required to attend all parts of El Camino. All freshmen should arrive at De Smet Jesuit by 6:00 p.m. The retreat does not start with a meal, so please be sure that your sons eat before. The evening concludes at 10:00 p.m. and freshmen return home for the evening. They should return to Emerson Lobby Friday morning, March 1, by 9:30 a.m.

Freshmen will stay at De Smet Jesuit Friday during the day. At 4:15 p.m., they will leave with their small group, a senior leader, and a faculty member for dinner and a series of retreat activities to the home of one of their senior leaders. His family will host dinner and the evening. They will return to De Smet Jesuit by 9:15, and they will spend the night at De Smet Jesuit. In addition, lunch on Friday, breakfast on Saturday, and several snacks will be provided by De Smet Jesuit. There is no cost for this retreat.

At 9:45 a.m. Saturday, March 2, the retreat concludes with a Closing Ceremony in the gym. Parents are encouraged to attend this ceremony as a way to support their sons. This will come as a surprise to the retreatants, so please keep it confidential. Your presence for this is important and allows you to share in the experience. Also, we ask that you park in the Emerson parking lot and enter the school through the Emerson entrance. From there, parents can enter the gym without the freshmen knowing. This should help keep your presence a surprise. We should be finished by 10:30 a.m.

Junior Kairos Retreat
Juniors and Junior Parents: If you have not already done so, please sign-up for one of the remaining Kairos Retreats for the Class of 2014. All students are expected to make a Kairos Retreat in either the second semester of their junior year or the first semester of their senior year. Typically, it is much easier to schedule during the spring semester of junior year, rather than wait for the first semester of next year. Please register online or see Dr. Callahan in the Campus Ministry Office for a Kairos registration form.

Ireland Trip Information Sessions
Tuesday and Wednesday (Feb. 26 & 28) Fr. Robert "Cos" Costello, Chaplain to the De Smet Jesuit Faculty and staff, will host information sessions on a trip he is planning to Ireland in July for alumni and parents. If you would like to hear about the trip and get information, please attend one of the sessions in the chapel conference room at 6 p.m., but first please let Fr. Cos know you plan on attending by emailing him at rcostello@desmet.org or by calling 314-567-3500 ext. 465.

De Smet Jesuit Student Art to Be Displayed March 1 & 2 at Tappmeyer House
A select few De Smet Jesuit and Whitfield art students met on December 4, 2012 to begin a correspondence that culminates in this exhibition. They each brought with them a piece of their original artwork. After being randomly paired with an artist from the other school, they had a brief thirty minutes to closely observe the original artwork, discuss with the artist the intent and meaning behind their art and share their thoughts. Next they went back to their respective studios and began to analyze and dissect the exchange of work and ideas to pull out an element of inspiration. A new original artwork was created from the exchange. Both artists' original and new artworks are on display together.

The Artshow Exchange will be at the Tappmeyer House in Millennium Park at 2 Barnes West Drive in Creve Coeur. The displays are open to the public Friday, March 1 from 7-9 p.m. and on Saturday, March 2 from 2-4 p.m.
