Join the Men's Club for the third Annual "Grill a Steak" meeting on Monday, April 22. Happy Hour starts at 6:00 pm followed by dinner and the business meeting. Steaks, sides and of course beverages provided by the Men's Club!
Election of Officers for 2013-14 will take place at this meeting.

Father/Son Men For Others Mission Week Texas Hold'em Results!

64 dads and sons gathered for an eveing of father and son bonding, food, drink and a night of Texas Hold'em to benefit Mission Week. All proceeds raised from the event were donated to the 2013 Mission Week Fund. The Men's Club underwrites the costs assoicated with the night of poker to maximize the funds raised. While all in attendance were "winners," the Men's Club is pleased to announce the top three winning fathers and sons:
First Place Dad: Dr. Robert Tonsi (father of Steve '79, father-in-law of Chris Carpenter '80 and grandfather of Mitch Carpenter '13)
First Place Son: Michael Hickey '14
Second Place Dad: Mr. Chris Carpenter (father of Mitch '13)
Second Place Son: Michael Silberberg '15
Third Place Dad: Mr. Phil O'Connor (father of Regan '16)
Third Place Son: Matt Edwards '16
Father/Son Banquet
Nearly 450 dads and their sons gathered for the traditional Father-Son Banquet on January 27th for Mass in the Boian Chapel followed by dinner in the gym. The De Smet Jesuit Black Robe Choir under the direction of Mr. Ray Sherrock provided music for the liturgy. The Jazz Band under the direction of Mr. Mike Karpowicz entertained the guests as they arrived in the Emerson Lobby. Felicie and her crew once again dazzled the dads and sons with a fabulous meal.
Featured speaker, John O'Leary (De Smet Jesuit Class of 1995) mesmerized the crowd with his story of overcoming enormous obstacles in life and challenged the dads and sons to ask "What more can I do?" A short video clip from John's speech at the banquet can be watched here.

Annual Father/Son Golf Tournament Sept. 23
127 dads and sons took to the greens at the Landings at Spririt Golf Club on a beautiful fall day for a great day of golf and father son bonding. The Wahle Team, pictured at right, consisting of Kevin '18, Matthew '16, Bill '82 and John '79 took overall first place with a with a winning score of 60. Second place winners with a score of 66 were team Ellison/Lodes (Bob & Bobby '13 and Joe & Joey '13), with third place going to team Sullivan/Callahan (Patrick & Collin '13 and David & Michael '13). Nick Redmond '15 took the honors with the longest drive. Closest to the pin went to current dad, John Moore.
Huge thanks to volunteers, Joe Wolf & his son, Rudy '14 who snapped shots of each father son team. And kudos to Robin Davis, Bob Bira, Bill Lane, Steve Horack and Mark Nuelle who assisted chairs Tim Hacker and John Marino along with the fine culinary abilities of Mr. Sothers and the National Honors Society for another successful Father Son Golf Tourney!
Our next Father Son event is slated for Sunday, January 27, 2013 when the Men's Club hosts the annual Father Son Banquet. John O'Leary '95, motivational speaker and De Smet Jesuit Hall of Fame member will be the featured speaker at this year's banquet. Save the date!!
