What

A new De Smet Jesuit Alumni competition to find out which class is the truly best in “team” giving. Coinciding with the NCAA March Madness basketball tournament, class decades (1970’s, 1980’s, 1990’s, and 2000’s) will square up against one another to determine which one can reach the highest overall class giving percentage. The “Final Four” best class from each decade will move on to the semi-finals, and in the final week, the last two classes standing will face off to determine out champion.

When
Round 1 “Battle of the Decades”: March 13-19
Round 2 “Final Four”: March 20-26
Round 3 “Championship”: March 27 to April 3

Rules

1. The ultimate goal is to raise each class’ overall giving percentages in this fiscal year (July 1, 2016 to June 30, 2017). If you have already made a gift, you may still make another to help your class’ overall giving total—which can be used to help break a tie.

  • 2. In the event of two classes tying at the end of a round, the tiebreakers would be as follows:
    • a. The team with the highest total giving amount from that round.
    • b. If both classes have the same giving percentage and total giving, the class with highest number of “new” donors for the year will move on.

  • 3. Minimum gift amount is $5, and your gift will only count once in helping your class participation giving percentage (in other words, you cannot make multiple small gifts each round to help boost your percentage total). Multiple gifts are welcome to be made to help increase a class’ total giving.

  • 4. Gifts can only be made either online or through Venmo (search for “De Smet Jesuit”) within the appropriate round date range.

  • 5. The winner will be announced on April 4. The winning class will receive a private tailgate party during the 2017-18 school year prior to a varsity sporting event.
