What makes De Smet Jesuit different than other schools?
De Smet Jesuit is a unique high school for many reasons. First, we are a Catholic, Jesuit school and part of a global network of Jesuit schools. Like our brother Jesuit schools, we are part of an education tradition of excellence that goes back 450 years to St. Ignatius of Loyola. There are more than 50 other Jesuit high schools and 28 colleges and universities in the United States alone. Some of them include Boston College, Georgetown, Saint Louis University, Marquette University and Santa Clara. There really is no comparable body of private education in the world. In addition to our rigorous college prep curriculum, De Smet Jesuit emphasizes the formative experiences that occur outside of the classroom as well. Our comprehensive retreat and service programs are at the core of who we are as an institution and put into practice our motto of being "Men for Others". De Smet Jesuit students are friends in the Lord and friends with the poor.

What kind of student does De Smet look for in an applicant?
De Smet Jesuit desires students who have a desire to become more competent in the classroom, more conscience about world and more compassionate towards others. Our students come from over 100 grade schools in the metropolitan area, and they typically had "A"s and "B"s in their 6th-8th grade years. We do not, however, limit ourselves to a certain type of student. Our student body is diverse in gifts and talents, which only makes our community a stronger, richer place.
